2 shot in Milwaukee, including 5-year-old boy


Police say a 5-year-old boy is being treated after he was shot.The boy was injured in a double shooting about 8 a.m. Tuesday.It happened at a home near North 24th Street and West Concordia Avenue.Investigators said a 22-year-old Milwaukee man was also shot.He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and was listed in critical condition.The boy was shot in the leg and has serious injuries. He was in stable condition.Investigators said they were seeking a person of interest in the shootings.So far, no arrests have been made.The victims have not been identified.Police have not said what may have led to the shootings.Milwaukee police said so far in 2021, 11 children under the age of 17 have been involved in non-fatal shootings. That’s nearly double from this same time last year.”This is a trend we’ve been tracking over the past several years, and we know that last year we saw an unprecedented number of children killed as a result of homicide in our city,” said Reggie Moore with the city’s Office of Violence Prevention.Moore said an increase in domestic violence incidents and a 300% spike in gun purchases last year could be two factors.”So we have a lot more firearms in a lot more homes that are accessible at points of conflict,” Moore said, But Moore said they’re working to turn the trends around.”We have to do everything possible to prevent this level of trauma from happening in the first place, so my heart goes out to this family and this entire neighborhood that was impacted by this shooting because it impacts our entire city,” he said.Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call police at 414-935-7360 or Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS or use the P3 Tips App. WISN 12 News continues to gather more information about this developing story.
